The Koa beads are handmade in on the Big Island of Hawaii from wood grown, harvested, and milled on the island. It is a type of wood endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, evolving on the remote island chain, and is known to reflect strength and courage. Koa trees are the second most prolific tree on the islands, due to sustainable lumber practices and the fact that Koa trees grow up to 5 feet in a year in good conditions. The word Koa means “Warrior” and the wood was used in ancient Hawaii for making surfboards, canoes, and wooden pahoas or daggers.
This wood bead bracelet, like all our others, is a 100% USA component product. The beads are made by us on the island and the cord and finish for the beads is produced on the mainland.
